Transborder student cooperation. It has been two years since we started cooperation between Universities which educate specialists in the field of physiotherapy. On 4th December 2009 our Institute hosted a group of students and lecturers from Janka Kupała University in Grodno. It was the second visit of those involved in physiotherapy. The meeting with authorities and lecturers of WSKiOZ in Białystok started at 8 o’clock in the morning and was followed by speech during which history of the Institute as well as the origin of cooperation between Universities were presented. To make the atmosphere more pleasant souvenirs and gifts were exchanged among participants. Krzysztof Cis, M.Sc., clarified the idea of Special Olympics – the association acting for people who suffer from mental retardation. A Special Olympics Programme is well known in Belorus and it is going to be a component of V European Summer Special Olympics in Warsaw in September 2010. As soon as the meeting came to an end our guest were showed around premises of the Institute and Medrex Medical Centre. The next stage of the visit was participation in the ‘teaching programme’ initiated by ‘A biomechanic gait analyses, a lecture given by Robert Santorka, PH.D. Afterwards, our guests had an opportunity to see Clinical Neurophysiology workshops conducted by Dorota Skonecka - Łukaszuk, M.Sc., and a Therapeutic Massage conducted by Zbigniew Rudziński, M.Sc. The subject of Clinical Neurophysiology lecture was linked to selected issues of electrodiagnosis, simultaneously students from Grodno were able to take an active part in it by performing some tests on themselves. The subject of Therapeutic Massage lecture concerned different techniques of a Relaxation Massage, particulary a massage with canes and hot stones. The second stage of the visit was Białystok sightseeing. Summary of the meeting was followed by the opinion swap in the field of activities and methodology of teaching applied at both Universities. The cooperation between Universities, by virtue of the signed contract, will be even more tighten in the nearest future and might result in the students exchange programme aiming at foreign students’ practices in our Institute. Our countries lie in the neighbourhood and our culture is a result of common historical events. The students exchange programme might be fruitful not only of great cooperation of two educational centres but also of social contacts.
